From the Italian lavender fields in Arenzano to the African mission fields

The Discalced Carmelites from the Sanctuary of the Infant Jesus of Prague are in the Republic of Central Africa. They dedicate themselves to evangelisation and human development, constructing and running schools of basic education, dispensaries for lepers and disabled people, courses for mechanics, a carpentry and farming co-operative. They work in the parishes of Bozoum, Baoro and Bossentele.
They are involved in the formation of 80 boys in the junior seminary --- an agricultural centre at Yole in Bouar where the boys study, pray and work in the fields. After an absence of 200 years the Discalced Carmelites have returned to the Czech Republic at the church of the Infant Jesus of Prague and they have opened a student house for theology at Slany. After many years of neglect both of these houses are badly in need of rebuilding and restoration.
Lavender Essence is a means of helping the Carmelite mission in the Republic of Central Africa and the repairs to the Church of the Infant Jesus at Prague.
The contents of the bottles of Lavender Essence are a natural agricultural product, obtained by distilling the fresh flowers of Spica Lavender in current of steam (100kg of flowers gives approx. 2kg of essence). It is mainly used for perfumes. It is among the best known medicinal herbs.
Biochemical composition of Spica Lavender essential oil: linololio, cinoleo, camphor and in small quantities borneolo, geraniola, acetate of linallie,
and B-cariophillene.
For external use: purifies the skin in cases of greasy skin and acne and in cases of fungal infections of the feet and hands; it also stimulates the outer circulation and can be used as a bath prepatation. While always for external use, it may be used to purify the breath and the mouth as a mouthwash (4-5 drops diluated in water). It perfumes bed linen and protects it from moths. It purifies the air when used in humidifiers and radiators. It expels mosquitoes.
Colds and headaches: 3-4 drops on a handkerchief on a pillow (does not stain) before going to bed.
Corns: 2-3 drops on the skin.
Rheumatic and arthritic pains: rub the oil on the area of pain.
Stress and insomnia: with use of burner (dilute oil with water)
Warning: Do not use in case of known allergy to the essence. Use with children under 3 years is not advised. Keep out of the reach of children.
